More or Less – The referendum by Numbers (Parts 1 and 2)

This programme claimed (without MPs shouting contradictory statistics at each other) to give people the ‘truth’ and help them make an ‘informed vote’ in the referendum ‘with the relevant facts’.

From the outset of the programme it appeared the purpose was to set out dismantle the Leave campaign’s assertions piece by piece, in some cases misrepresenting their position, or where they were found to be correct, minimising them with the repeated and judicious word BUT, or finding someone on the same side of the argument to disagree with them.

Many of the key issues on our balance of trade with the EU or the encroachment of the ECJ were not even mentioned.

The tone seemed at times to be sneering and sarcastic and not all of the participants’ affiliations were made clear.
